Privacy Policy

What we collect
- Platform accounts: your name, email address and a hash of your password; session metadata (IP address, browser) for security. Your account is what owns your boards and lets you recover their admin access.
- Boards: the content you and your members create — posts, profiles, messages, uploads — stored in your board's own database and storage area. Board member accounts are separate from Etaboards platform accounts and belong to that board.
- Technical logs: request logs and approximate per-board usage counters (requests, traffic, storage) needed to operate, secure and plan the service. They are not used for billing.
Files and who can see them
Attachments on posts and private messages are stored encrypted and are only served to people allowed to see the content they belong to. Public images — avatars, cover photos, theme assets and similar — are served from public CDN links that anyone with the link can open.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data, we don't run advertising, and we don't profile you. Board content is only read by our systems to serve your board, and by humans only when required for support, abuse handling, or by law.
Processors we rely on
Your data is processed by the infrastructure providers the service is built on:
- Vercel — application hosting and delivery
- Turso — databases (the board registry and one database per board)
- Cloudflare — file storage (R2) and CDN, and Turnstile captcha
- Resend — transactional email
- GitHub — storage of encrypted backups
Retention & deletion
Deleting a board blocks it right away: it stops accepting uploads at once and stops serving pages within about a minute. Its database, uploaded files, domain connections and registry entry are then removed by a cleanup job that runs at least daily, normally within a day; if one of our providers is temporarily unavailable we keep retrying and our team follows up until it is done. A minimal record of the deletion (which board, which account asked, and when) is kept for 90 days after cleanup for audit and abuse handling, and the board's subdomain stays reserved for 7 days after cleanup finishes. Copies of public files that browsers or our CDN already cached can remain until those caches expire.
Encrypted backups are taken twice a day. Backups that include a board are kept for up to 30 days and then destroyed; recovery copies held by our infrastructure providers expire under their own retention. Within that window a deleted board can only be restored at its owner's request. Logs expire on a rolling basis.
To delete your platform account, email support@etaboards.com from that account.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction, erasure or a portable copy of your personal data, and you can ask us to restrict or stop processing it. For content on a specific board, contact that board's administrator first — they control their community's data. Board owners can ask us for an export of their board. For platform matters: support@etaboards.com. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Cookies
We use only functional cookies: your sign-in session, short-lived cookies that keep a form or invitation working and, on boards, an anonymous visitor id for presence statistics. No tracking or advertising cookies.
